Molecular Distillation:

Molecular distillation, also called short-path distillation, is a relatively new liquid-liquid separation technology that has not been widely used in industrial production. Its application can solve a large number of problems that cannot be solved by conventional distillation technology. Molecular distillation is a distillation method operating under high vacuum. At this time, the average degree of freedom of vapor molecules is larger than the distance between the evaporation surface and the condensation surface, so that the difference in the evaporation rate of each component in the feed liquid can be utilized. , to separate the liquid mixture. Molecular evaporator, degassing system, feeding system, heating system, cooling vacuum system and control system are the main components of a complete molecular distillation system. Molecular evaporator is the core part of molecular distillation device.

working principle:

Molecular distillation is a special liquid-liquid separation technology, which is different from traditional distillation relying on the separation principle of boiling point difference, but realizes the separation by the difference of the mean free path of molecular motion of different substances.

When the liquid mixture flows along the heating plate and is heated, light and heavy molecules will escape from the liquid surface and enter the gas phase. Because the free paths of light and heavy molecules are different, different substances escape from the liquid surface. The distance that the molecules move in the future will be different. If a condensing plate can be properly set, the light molecules will be condensed and discharged when they reach the condensing plate, while the heavy molecules will not reach the condensing plate and be discharged along the mixed liquid. In this way, the purpose of material separation is achieved. The driving force of the steam flow is the pressure difference between the boiling membrane and the condensing surface, and even a small pressure drop will cause the steam to flow. Operation at 1 mbar requires a relatively short distance between the boiling surface and the condensing surface. A still made on the basis of this principle is called a short path still. Short path stills (molecular distillation) have a built-in condenser opposite the heating surface and allow the operating pressure to drop to 0.001 mbar.

Application:

Molecular distillation systems can be used in the production of L-lactic acid and other organic acids.
